How to get notified of new Reddit posts

Tell subding which keywords matter and it notifies you of new posts, and new comments, that mention them, usually within minutes of them going live. The important word is "matching": you are not signing up for every new post on Reddit, which would be unreadable, but for the fresh threads that actually contain your terms, delivered to the channel you choose.

The short version

  • You are notified of new posts and comments that match your keywords.
  • Matches reach you within minutes of going live.
  • It is not a feed of every new post; that would be noise.
  • Alerts land in Slack, Discord, email or a webhook.
  • Fresh threads caught early are the ones still worth joining.

Getting the notifications flowing

The setup in our Reddit monitoring tool is short. Add the keywords you care about, pick where you want to hear about them, and subding watches Reddit on a five-minute cycle for new posts and comments that match. When one appears, the alert reaches you quickly, carrying the thread and a link so you can open it in context. There is nothing to poll and no feed to scroll; the new thread comes to you.

Because it checks comments as well as posts, you also hear a brand-new reply in an older thread, which is where a lot of recommendations actually appear. New does not only mean new posts; it means anything fresh that mentions your terms.

Matching, not a firehose

It is worth being clear about what you are and are not signing up for. A notification for every new post on Reddit, or even in one busy subreddit, would be hundreds a day and almost all irrelevant. subding notifies you only when your keywords appear, so each alert is relevant by default and the few noise sources can be excluded by subreddit.

Questions, answered straight

How do I get notified of new Reddit posts?

Tell subding which keywords matter and it notifies you of new posts, and new comments, that mention them, usually within minutes of them going live. The important word is "matching": you are not signing up for every new post on Reddit, which would be unreadable, but for the fresh threads that actually contain your terms, delivered to the channel you choose.

Can I get every new post from a subreddit?

No, and that is deliberate. A whole-subreddit feed is mostly noise for a brand, so subding notifies you of new posts and comments that match your keywords instead, and lets you exclude any community that still adds clutter.

Does it notify me of new comments too?

Yes. New comments that match your keywords are caught on the same five-minute loop as new posts, which matters because a lot of recommendations appear as a reply in an existing thread rather than a brand-new post.

How quickly after a post goes live do I hear?

Usually within minutes. subding checks on a fixed five-minute cycle, so the gap between a matching post appearing and the alert reaching you is small enough to join the thread while it is still forming.

Fresh threads, while they are fresh

Being notified of new Reddit posts only helps if it is the right ones and they arrive in time. subding pings you on matching posts and comments within minutes, so you reach them early.
